[Post Your Remedy!]( Grandmother Guffy's Dry and Itchy Skin Recipe Posted by Cat (Austin, Tx) on 05/10/2010 [5 out of 5 stars] Grandmother Guffys Method for forever soft, clean, ageless skin. My grandmother Guffys skin was as soft and smooth as a babys butt till the day she died at 94. One day, when I was a younger woman constantly on the go, she noticed how dry and ashy my skin was and elected to tell me about her method of bathing. It was the only thing she said she did to keep her body clean and soft... I loved the smell but my skin just does not absorb this oil. It would sit on the surface of my skin and be rubbed onto my clothes. Didn't help chaffed skin much at all. I recently bought a bottle of wheatgerm oil and boy that is another thing altogether. I can apply it directly to my face and it is absorbed rapidly, rubbed it on my chaffed elbows and next day they were better. It's full of vitamin E. Eat the coconut oil or put it on your hair but wheatgerm oil is more readily absorbed in my experience. --------------------------------------------------------------- Apple Cider Vinegar Posted by Milo (Orange County, Ca) on 12/27/2013 [5 out of 5 stars] I had extremely hard, dry and cracked skin on both my feet and my right hand. The skin split in the arch of my foot about 3/16 and I had open cracks in joints of my fingers and on the tip of my thumb. Very painful. No matter how much or what type of lotion I used, it gave me no relief. Then I started soaking both my feet and hand in ACV for about 10 minutes at a time, 1-2 times a day. The results were dramatic within days and my skin looks normal after about 10 days. NO MORE CUTS and virtually no small cracks either... Apple Cider Vinegar Posted by Naeriyah Jo An (Atlanta, USA) on 01/11/2008 [5 out of 5 stars] Another remedy that works for dry skin if your lower extremities are having difficulty in absorbing oils lotions or resisting water when bathing. soak your legs in a bath of acv and warm water for about 30 minutes immediately your legs will begin absorbing again. I have done both. with the legs my medical doctors told me that they were dying and a Japanese masseuse told me about the acv bath and to never use anything on my skin I cannot eat. I went back to the doctor and showed them my legs. They didn't know what to say but told me to keep on doing what i am doing. I have not had that severity with absorption since. I have never had to repeat the bathe again 7 years since i first tried it. I mixed 50/50 solution of unscented vaseline lotion and castor oil and rubbed it into my feet right before bed. I bought a couple of pairs of cheap terry cloth house slippers and wore those until I was in bed (we have hard wood floors & didn't want to fall on my duff .) I was just doing it to soften my feet a little, but after a month, I stepped out of the shower one day and my entire foot peeled a very thick callous practically all in one huge piece, and my feet were so soft. I 've been doing it ever since as a preventative measure. Patience is the key, but it was certainly a surprise plus for me, as I thought the skin was way too thick to make any headway as far as alleviating the callous. I was just hoping to make my feet a little softer. Hope this helps. Am 77 yrs. For several years, any dark coloured slacks I wore had white powder inside the legs from the skin rubbing and flaking. I was ashamed of how my lower legs looked and kept them covered. I often rubbed good quality lotions and also oils on them but no cure, just looked better for a day. I finally remembered how Papaya Ointment helped my mothers hands after she damaged them with bleach. She tried many things but only the papaya helped ( straight away.) Well, it worked for my legs too. After the first application! Because it is sticky, I patted talcum powder over it. I applied it again two days later just in case, but that one application did it. My mother used the one mixed with petroleum jelly, I used a very natural one. I waited two weeks before reporting. Both types of ointment worked straight away. It's the Papaya. --------------------------------------------------------------- Water Posted by Mary (St (Cold) Louis, Ms) on 03/26/2013 [5 out of 5 stars] Hi, yes omega 3 works as does flaxseed oil but for dry skin, you may also try increasing your water intake. I find that works best for dry skin, especially in winter months. Mary --------------------------------------------------------------- Borax Foot Scrub Posted by Jessica (Forest, VA, USA) on 12/19/2007 [5 out of 5 stars] I'm insulin resistant, so I have alot of the same problems that diabetics do, including rough feet. I've tried so many scrubs and files and lotions in hopes of softening my feet. I suspect that I also have a systemic Candida infection, so I thought Borax would be good for my itchy feet. It worked wonderfully! My feet were so soft after I got out of the shower and have not been itching since. Once you get your feet nice and soft, you'll want to follow with a good moisturizer: that's where my next project lies. More! Sleep Seizures and Possible After-Effects That Are Linked Posted by Iain (London..UK) on 12/02/2021 Recently, been having seizures, mostly in my sleep, every 2 months. My blood pressure at the same time is very high. On 8th August, after a couple of days of repeated seizures, I awoke in total confused state. I had also lost all my short-term memory. And basically didn't know where I was, and ended in hospital a few days. At the same time when I awoke, I had a septic Ulcer on my left foot. ( This is still there). And extreme Eczema, mostly on the left arm. Some with burst blood vessels. No improvement since 8th Aug. Tried Betnovate, and Dermovate. No improvement. Also after the seizure, my left shoulder is in extreme pain and limited movement. I imagine caused by the fit. Doc says frozen shoulder. I have had a steroid injection, but no improvement. All my problems more or less came same day, the morning when I awoke 8th Aug. I do feel there must be a link between all of them. And especially how they all appeared same time. I need to look at alternative med, as getting nowhere with conventional meds. Also willing try anything. I'm 63 years old. Have lived not the most healthy life style, but not terrible . Suggestions welcome, and as said I do feel there's a link between them all??? She had the Covid test done and it showed negative after about the first week of being sick. Two rounds of antibiotics, she continued to get no better. Then she is sitting there one day, still sick but able to communicate with everyone, 30 minutes later she had what would be diagnosed as a TIA stroke. An ambulance was called, several tests including Covid. TIA confirmed, Covid positive confirmed EKG revealed a narrowing or closing of one of the arteries in the heart. They could not do some other test because of having to go down her throat ( They also diagnosed her as having Covid Pneumonia ) Which was strange because her pulse Ox was 96 at the hospital. She is suffering mostly from dizziness. And simply feels like crap. I have always been one to experience on myself with natural remedies, but I am hesitant for her to try, due to the TIA and narrowing of the artery in the heart. I would not want her to do anything that would be harmful to her. I think she may still have the covid itself. They sent her home and schedule a follow up with her for a few weeks later. I have read that the covid virus is enveloped coated, I battled Morgellons at a point in my life and threw everything but the kitchen sink at it. I was able to get it to die down but never completely die out. It was not until I used Orange Oil Internally that it went completely away. I believe the Orange Oil melted the coating off the Morgellons and weakened it enough that it died out. My mother is a little hesitant to try anything that might interfere with the current medications that she is on, I just wanted to see if any of you might know some things that can help her at this point. Also, what are your thoughts that the Orange Oil being able to melt fungi, virus and bacteria's coats off and kill them out easier??? Home treatment only. I see that BHT gets some good recommendations. One thing I've to check with supplements is if they are safe for good bacteria due to prior problems with gut dysbiosis. Can anyone answer that for BHT? Firstly, I'm apparently in the early stages of getting cataracts in both eyes. So that is the first thing I would like to get under control. I would rather avoid having surgery when they get worse. Next, I also have raised eye pressure. Lastly, and this is something that has concerned me for a few years now. When I have to do the visual field test I sometimes fail it. Luckily they allow me to try again until I pass. As a bit of background, for over 10 years now I have stopped driving at night due to struggling with seeing where I'm going. As a carer, I rely on having the use of my car to transport my elderly parent around and I'm worried they may take my licence away if I can't find a way to improve my vision. So, what I'm basically asking you knowledgeable people for is any recommendations that will improve my eyesight. Are there any vitamins/supplements or anything else that will help me? I'm 60 years old. Thank you.
