A few weeks ago, a business owner having serious marital issues signed up for our coaching. I’ll call him “Jack”, even though that’s not his real name. In a nutshell, Jack was working 70-80 hours a week in his accounting firm… And making about $140k per year. Which is nothing to sneeze at… But still not quite enough for his wife to quit her job. So because of Jack’s crazy hours — his wife was single handedly raising their 3 kids while working full time. Understandably she was fed up. And even though Jack was trying to grow his business and reach that magic “finish line” where he could pull back a bit (and have enough income for her to quit her job if she wanted to)... His wife was no longer the encouraging support system she had once been. She was sick of him not being around… All their conversations became arguments… And she’d even threatened to leave. Now luckily, we're helping Jack. But his story is one I’ve probably seen a hundred times in the last 15 years. Almost every entrepreneur feels relationship strain at some point. Making lots of money can help a bit… but it’s generally not enough. Part of why I bring this up, is these problems are often magnified by the holidays: - Added financial burden of paying for gifts and extra seasonal expenses - Constantly trying to balance work with family visits and dinners - Having to miss events your family wants you at - The stress of properly planning for 2023 so you can make more money next year - Drinking more which saps your energy and disrupts sleep - The onslaught of emails you come back to after taking a day off If you’ve struggled with any of these… or relate to Jack’s story at all… It’s important to know you can change this. You do NOT have to choose between your marriage or your business. Now listen, I won’t sugarcoat… This is going to require better planning and preparation on your part. But it’s much easier than you think. The underlying principle is simple… It comes down to using what’s known as the “80/20” principle. If you’re not familiar with 80/20, basically it states that 80% of results come from just 20% of our efforts. This isn’t some woo-woo mumbo jumbo either, 80/20 is a proven law of nature that’s as real as the law of gravity. It was first discovered over a hundred years ago when economist Vilfredo Pareto realized 80% of the wealth in Italy was controlled by 20% of the people. But it turns out this pattern doesn’t just apply to wealth distribution… It applies to virtually everything. 20% of movies account for 80% of box office sales… 20% of crops produce 80% of the yield… 20% of freeways get 80% of the traffic… There’s a good book about this called The 80/20 Principle, by Richard Koch. And it proves that 80/20 is everywhere. Take a close look and I’m confident you’ll find 20% of your business efforts bring in 80% of your revenue. Think about it right now… Do 1 or 2 activities generate the bulk of your sales? Do 1 or 2 lead sources bring in the majority of your new business? On the flip side… You probably have a handful of activities that, collectively, take up most of your time… But bring almost no immediate benefit to your business. Now of course you can’t just drop things like customer service… But imagine what would happen if you found a way to shift 20, 30, or 40% of your energy away from “putting out fires” and other low yield activities… …And focused more on the one or two biggest needle movers that bring in all your profits. Your results would radically improve and you’d make more money in less time. I can tell you this works like gangbusters. And the most successful people in the world are the ones who use the law of 80/20 best. The author of that book I just mentioned, Richard Koch? He used the 80/20 rule to go from working 60+ hours a week earning 6-Figures…  ...to being worth $400 million and working one hour per day. It’s that powerful. In fact, I’m such a strong believer in this principle… That we’ve applied 80/20 to the creation of our newest program. Over the past year… We’ve been carefully identifying which specific methods have had the greatest impact helping entrepreneurs and business owners grow 7 and 8-figure empires — without working 12+ hour days (often 6 hrs or less). And we’ve TRIPLED down on those strategies. The result? We believe this new program will be hands down the best business coaching on the market. Because not only have we “80/20’d” our own proven methods… We’ve structured everything to easily apply 80/20 to your own life and business… So you can increase your income, slash stress and overwork, and have plenty of time with your family. More details tomorrow. Can’t wait to fill you in!
