[VIEW IN A BROWSER](%%VIEWONLINE%%) --------------------------------------------------------------- [United American Patriots]( Fellow Patriot, There's an innocent U.S. soldier behind bars for ordering his men defend themselves during combat operations in Afghanistan. Why? Because the Army's prosecutors did not introduce evidence in his trial which would have cleared this soldier of any wrong doing. [Will you help me get justice for a wrongly accused American Hero?]( In 2012, 1LT Clint Lorance was sent to a dangerous combat zone to replace a platoon leader who, just days before, was medevacked off the battlefield with shrapnel wounds to his eyes, face, and abdomen from an IED blast. On his second day, Clint led his soldiers on a foot patrol to a nearby Afghan village that was riddled with land mines. Every soldier was on edge. Just days before, another U.S. soldier had been shot in the neck in this very village. When three men riding a motorcycle started gunning toward their platoon (a tactic commonly used by the Taliban to attack U.S. forces) one of Clint's soldiers fired his rifle, but missed. With only a split-second to decide, Clint appropriately ordered his platoon to fire. They killed two of the men and one escaped. The Army's response? They fired Clint as platoon leader and put him on trial for murdering "civilians." What the Army's prosecution failed to mention during the trial is that those killed were not "civilians." They were enemy combatants! And, even though Clint's platoon acted within the Rules of Engagement and five witnesses testified that the fatal rounds went off within seconds, they convicted Clint and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. Now, my team at the United American Patriots (UAP) is funding Clint's legal defense and I'm urgently turning to patriotic folks like you for help. [Will you make an emergency donation of $35, $50, $100 or more to help free Clint Lorance?]( Clint is out of direct appeal options in the military justice system – which means his next steps are in federal civilian court to challenge his court-martial convictions and sentence. His legal team is working around the clock gathering additional evidence and following up on leads to strengthen their case that: - Clint was denied due process when military prosecutors withheld critical evidence that proved the Afghan "civilians" his platoon fired on were actually bombmakers. - Clint was denied meaningful appellate review when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces declined to hear his case. - Clint's original legal counsel was ineffective, failing to interview witnesses or press the prosecution for evidence. (He met Clint for the second time on the day of the fully contested double murder and attempted murder trial!) In fact, his attorneys recently obtained an Army document that admits at least one "confirmed" insurgent was killed in combat that fateful day Clint ordered his marksman to fire on the motorcycle riders. And worse, the Army had intelligence that Clint's platoon was being scouted for an impending attack. But they didn't turn over any of this information to the defense – even though these two details would likely have delivered a different outcome in Clint's first trial. Clint will file a Habeas Corpus petition in the District Court of Kansas this fall. But first, UAP must come up with $107,861 to pay for this new legal action. [That's why I'm asking you to make an emergency donation of $35, $50, $100 or more to fund Clint's appeal in civilian court.]( Clint's attorneys already uncovered DNA and fingerprint evidence that proves he did not order his men to fire on innocent Afghan "civilians," as the prosecution claimed at trial. But rather, they killed Taliban bombmakers. That's right. Enemy Combatants. So, if you agree Clint deserves his day in court with all the facts on the table, I urgently need your help today. [Please follow this link to make an emergency donation of $35, $50, $100 or more to the UAP Warrior Fund.]( Your generous support will help cover the costs of investigators, special witnesses and other legal fees that we incur on behalf of Clint and our other service members. UAP does not receive any funding from the government and our team operates on a shoestring budget to stretch the value of your dollar further. [So, please stand with UAP and 1LT Clint Lorance today.]( Thank you in advance for your continued support. Semper fi, [Signature] David "Bull" Gurfein LtCol, USMCR (Ret.) Chief Executive Officer, United American Patriots P.S. The UAP Warrior Fund must come up with $107,861 to pay for 1LT Clint Lorance's new legal action: a habeas corpus petition filed in federal district court in Kansas. We're hopeful that a judge in civilian court will rule favorably without pressure from his or her superiors – like many judges face in the military.
