Market Summary - Market gaps upside after mulling the 50-basis-point rate cut - S&P 500, DJ30 gap to new highs while the rest of the market gaps upside, but to different resistance - Painfully political move by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) requires tapping the big Wall Street names to appear in studios of the financial stations to explain the cut - Got the cut, got the surge. What other catalysts are there? - Expiration, gaps on top of solid rallies. It would appear some profit taking and testing is appropriate Wednesday I went into great detail about the scenarios after the FOMC 50-basis-point rate cut. Strong resistance on SP500, the market got what the federal funds futures contract predicted, and thus a test of the rally to set up a run at the resistance for a successful breakout looked plausible. Instead, the market opted for the pure pain trade, with futures surging and the indices gapping sharply higher. S&P 500 leapfrogged over resistance.
