Market Summary [Jon Johnson] - Jobless claims charge up futures - Indices rally and this time hold the move. - 30-year auction tails just as the Wednesday 10 year, but the market handles it - Still at bear flags on Friday -- not the best setup for the weekend so why not surge and solve the problem? The major stock indices are now up two of three sessions on a week that saw the prior week’s selling bleed over into Monday. Thursday futures were mixed with DJ30 modestly lower, Nasdaq and S&P 500 modestly higher. The release of the jobless claims and continuing claims, lower and higher, respectively, appeared to energize futures. They shot higher with the Dow turning from -40 to +184. Targets Hit Investment House Daily: A very volatile couple of weeks with a plunge lower the prior week followed by a recovery move this week. It was mostly a rebound week with not many stocks able to shake off the damage to the patterns. We thus used the bounce to bank some profits, but we also let positions such as Palantir Technologies that managed a pattern repair to continue working. We have stock and September options on that play so we want to let them build more profit for us. As it is we banked a few positions as we wait for the market to decide if it can base out and continue building back upside or if it is ready for some more downside work.
