[View it in your browser]( [Taxis get their chance as the Philippine government cracks down on Uber and Grab]( Editor's Note I have a dilemma. I live in Manila and I absolutely hate driving because of the traffic. I also don't like taking the cab for a multitude of reasons, primary of which is customer service. And don't even get me started on public transportation. So, my choice is either to suffer through the hassles of taxis and public transpo or potentially be a cautionary tale for road rage. It's enough to drive anyone to be a recluse. This is exactly why people took to Grab and Uber quickly; they shook up a problematic system and provided alternatives. But it is a truth universally acknowledged that anything that threatens status quo would face resistance or, in the case of ride-hailing companies, restrictions, protests, and even suspensions. Shouldn't the current system take a page out of these disruptors? Maybe fix things to make them more consumer-centric? The point of innovating is to find better way of doing things and the beauty of it is that anyone can do it - the old can be refreshed, the broken can be fixed, and the disrupted can be a disruptor. So, let's fix stuff, yeah? -Lyra Articles you shouldn't miss [e27 discussions, how do you generate (quality) ideas?]( via [e27 Discussions]( [Captain's Log, July 18: Microsoft lays off Singapore-based consumer team]( by [Yon Heong Tung]( [Right to bleed: This Indian startup gives a day's off to female employees on the first day of their menstrual cycle]( by [Sainul Abudheen K]( [Workplace flexibility should be gender-inclusive, not just a benefit for working mothers]( by [Young Entrepreneur Council]( [Is real estate tech disruption the end of the property agent?]( by [Ivan W B Lim]( [Flipkart now offers US$850M to buy Snapdeal which was once valued US$6.5B; Infibeam also joins the fray]( by [Sainul Abudheen K]( Want to be a thought leader on e27?
