Don't get me wrong, I love the energy of large events - conferences are always exciting and demo days are really fun. But if they're more than 3 hours long, I need to remove myself from the environment if I don't want to be cranky. What I usually do is either step out for 10 minutes or, more likely, put all my focus on a conversation with a small group of 1-3 people. It works quite well, actually. Not only do I get to recharge, I also engage and connect with different people, learn something new.
