The Go-Jek boss thinks so]( Editor's Note I spoke with an e-commerce guy this morning and he mentioned a very interesting fact. In Singapore, e-commerce makes up about 3 per cent of total retail sales in the city. A number high enough number rank it fourth in Asia. Furthermore, the top-3 (China, Japan and South Korea) are significantly ahead of the rest of Asia. It is a precipitous drop off. He also pointed out that Rakuten was supposed to change the game, and the same with RedMart before that. It was a necessary reminder that, while we hear a lot about Amazon, Alibaba and Lazada, they really haven't changed the industry...yet.
