Well, it is…and it isn’t. The AI boom, fundamentally, is as strong as ever. The CEO of Super Micro Computer (SMCI), a company whose shares are outrunning Nvidia this year, recently declared, "the AI boom is just beginning.” He’s on the front lines of AI infrastructure build out too. But we’ve got more proof. Outside of tech and investing, the AI boom isn’t at the center of much conversation and focus. For example, it has now been more than two years since ChatGPT 3.5 was unveiled and awareness still has a lot of room to grow. This survey from Pew Research a few months ago shows the growth of ChatGPT usage: [Chart] Any way you look at it, adoption rates are still well below what they will eventually grow into. That’s why it’s definitely early. But that doesn’t mean the AI stocks are going to be lay-downs from here either. In the short-run, it’s looking like quite the opposite. The Fed is set to change the game again when they cut rates again in a few weeks. There will be big changes. But AI will still be a source of strength regardless of much of anything. So we’ll focus on other ways to play the AI boom aside from the big tech plays that had such huge runs and are taking a well-deserved (and potentially long) breather.
