Each one slammed for a disappointing quarter and warnings of a tough road ahead. The problem with so much out there is a lot of room to fall. Today we’re going to look at a sector that’s already been crushed. It’s biotech. Biotech hasn’t seen a run this bad since the 2008 financial crisis. The essential funding from Private Equity and Venture Capital has dried up significantly in the last two years. This chart shows the funding is down as much as 80%: That’s ugly. But it won’t last forever though. Right now investors want “safe” for many reasons. But eventually, “risk” becomes so out of favor and so cheap, it’s actually “safe.” That’s the cycle and right now biotech is at the bottom of it.
