May 21st, 2024 Hello , Shares of this $4 billion health company are on fire. They jumped nearly 27% yesterday. They’re now up 48% for the month. The company is Hims & Hers Health (HIMS) and the jump came when the company announced it would be moving into weight-loss drugs. It’s got a leg up on the opportunity too. CNBC reports the company would be offering “GLP-1 injections will start at $199 a month.” That’s the same active compound in Ozempic and others, but for a fraction of the price. No wonder the stock soared. But it’s just going to be another in a long list of winners according to some research from JP Morgan. The megabank published research on the weight-loss drug market in November 2023 that forecasted major growth. Here’s a chart from that research: That’s undeniably huge growth, but there’s one key part in it that most are missing. The chart shows we’re nearing a sharp upturn beginning around 2025. The catalyst there is Medicare. If and when the nation’s largest healthcare payer says it's going to start picking up the tab, watch out. In the end, there’s still a lot more growth to come and there will be more big winners like Hims & Hers too. There comes times when clear and predictable growth opportunities come along. This is one of those times.
