March 22, 2023 Hello , Barclays Bank has released a big prediction about Trump. It’s both illuminating and depressing. Now, the global mega-bank isn’t weighing in on the likelihood of Trump victory in November. Its research is focused entirely on the implications. And a lot of it is what you’d expect - tariffs, tax policy, NATO, etc. But there’s one forecast that stood out. That was: “The US dollar would be poised to rally 3% if former President Donald Trump is re-elected in November.” This is a big statement for two reasons. One, it’s a signal that the US dollar would do better under Trump. Two, it’s a tacit admission there’s no stopping the long-term slide in the U.S. dollar. They’re saying Trump would be a small speed bump on a long-term decline of purchasing power, rising inflation, and spreading of costly regulatory structures. This is nothing new, but the 18th largest bank in the world admits it is a change. Again, it’s illuminating and a bit depressing. But we are not going to leave you like that just before a weekend. So we have something that’s been so depressed it’s really not depressing anymore. In fact, it’s poised for years of growth and it’s been making a major rebound in the last few weeks.
