So busy I managed to entirely forget to write last week’s newsletter amidst the barrage of announcements and my trip out to Seattle to meet the rest of the DPReview team (I’m fully remote). Thankfully, I’m back this week and have plenty of news to share with you. Hasselblad has launched a new medium format camera, Panasonic announced a new L-mount ultrawide prime, Apple announced its new iPhone 14 models and Fujifilm announced a new camera with its highest-resolution X-Trans sensor to date alongside two new lenses. Oh, and GoPro launched its new Hero 11 Black lineup, but not before DJI swept in an hour before GoPro’s announcement to launch its own action cam. Below is a breakdown of the biggest news stories and everything else we’ve covered over the past two weeks. - Gannon --------------------------------------------------------------- [Apple launches its new iPhone 14 models, including the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max with 48MP sensors inside]( In addition to its [iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models]( Apple revealed its high-end [iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models]( which have a new 48MP sensor capable of 48MP ProRAW stills and a 4K/30p Cinematic mode with an optional 24fps setting for a truly cinematic experience. DPReview’s Richard Butler has [broken down the new imaging tech]( inside Apple’s latest flagship devices. [Hasselblad announces a $8,200 X2D 100C medium format camera with a 100MP 5-axis IBIS sensor inside]( In addition to [its new camera]( Hasselblad also announced [three new F2.5 XCD V primes]( for its S System cameras: a 38mm, 55mm and 90mm. [Fujifilm reveals its 40MP X-H2 with 5-axis IBIS and internal 8K/30p ProRes 422 video capture]( Whereas Fujifilm’s X-H2S focuses on speed, the [X-H2]( focuses on pixel prowess, packing inside the largest-ever X-Trans sensor. Fujifilm also announced a [completely redesigned 56mm F1.2 WR X-mount lens]( as well as a new [20–35mm F4 lens]( for its GFX medium format cameras. [GoPro and DJI battle it out in the action camera market]( Within one hour of each other, GoPro and DJI launched their latest action cameras. DJI [kicked things off with its new 4K/120p Osmo Action 3]( while GoPro [released three new Hero 11 Black models]( with a crazy 8:7 aspect ratio sensor that can capture 10-bit video at up to 5.3K/60p. [OMDS says an M.Zuiko 90mm F3.5 Macro IS will be released next year]( OM System shooters will soon have a 90mm F3.5 IS Macro lens for their Micro Four Thirds camera systems. OMDS says the lens, which offers a 180mm full-frame equivalent focal length, will offer a 2:1 magnification ratio (4x in 35mm equivalent terms) and will be a part of its ‘Pro’ lineup with dust and moisture resistance. News updates [Leica's updated Summilux-M 35mm F1.4 ASPH lens is actually cheaper than its predecessor]( Published Thursday, September 15, 2022 6:25:00 PM GMT The updated Simmilux-M 35mm F1.4 ASPH has more aperture blades and a shorter focusing distance than its predecessor. It also has an integrated lens hood and a cheaper price. [DJI announces Osmo Action 3, with 4K/120p recording, longer-lasting battery]( Published Wednesday, September 14, 2022 12:00:00 PM GMT DJI's new Osmo Action 3 can now record 4K video at up to 120fps (up from 4K/60p) and has a longer-lasting battery with 30W quick-charge support. [Nikon snaps back at lawsuit, suggests RED's compressed Raw patents aren’t entirely valid]( Published Tuesday, September 13, 2022 6:45:00 PM GMT For now, Nikon won't pay any royalties to RED following a lawsuit filed earlier this year. Nikon has denied nearly all wrongdoing in its countersuit.
