Thankfully there are plenty of us in the office, huddled around the warmth of our monitors, bringing you all the latest news and technical findings. It already looks set to be an interesting year... Richard --------------------------------------------------------------- Canon announces EOS-1D X Mark III The 1D cameras are designed for such a specific task that they tend not to offer too many surprises: faster shooting and predictable ergonomics are the usual combination. But the 1D X Mark III goes some way beyond this. Yes, it shoots faster and has AI-trained AF algorithms but flip the mirror up and you essentially get what promises to be a pro-sports mirrorless camera. You also get some of the best video spec we've ever seen, a surprising change to the ergonomics and the adoption of what could be the future of digital photo output: 10-bit HEIF images. [Read our initial review to find out more about what the big Canon offers]( Nikon launches the D780 The Nikon D750 was one of the most well-rounded stills and video cameras when it was launched, and has remained competitive (at least on the stills side of things) despite being released more than half a decade ago. The D780 tries to fill these big boots by squeezing the capabilities of the Z6 into a DSLR body. [Read our initial review to find out what this means]( Nikon D3500 reviewed D3500 is a low-cost DSLR aimed at beginners.
