{NAME}, There is a battle for democracy in Michigan, and my friend Jocelyn Benson is working on the front lines as Secretary of State. Throughout her first term, Jocelyn has excelled – in 2020, she managed a safe, secure, and transparent election, processing record amounts of absentee ballots during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jocelyn accomplished this in the face of conspiracies and lies from extreme MAGA supporters, who sought to overturn the results of the election in favor of Donald Trump. They filed bogus legal challenges and tried to replace President Biden’s electoral college votes with fake electors. One night, dozens of armed protesters even showed up outside of Jocelyn’s home and threatened Jocelyn in front of her family. Through it all, Jocelyn has remained a courageous defender of the 2020 election results and a vocal leader of the national pro-democracy movement. [Jocelyn Benson is a major reason why democracy remains alive in this country. I’m asking you to pitch in today to help re-elect Jocelyn and help me elect Democrats like her nationwide.]( Unfortunately, The Big Lie has taken root in Michigan and become a dangerous political movement. Jocelyn’s opponent, Kristina Karamo, believes that Trump won the 2020 election and even filed an affidavit in court falsely alleging voter fraud. Seriously folks, this is the choice that Michigan voters are facing: a leader who stood up to violent protesters in defense of our democracy, or a candidate who spread election lies for partisan gain. Election lies are only the beginning of Karamo’s extremism. She has labeled all Democrats “Satanists”, called the Capitol Police officers who testified during the January 6th hearing “actors”, and compared abortion to “child sacrifice”. This last horrific claim becomes even more important because, on Election Day, Michigan voters will be considering a constitutional amendment to protect abortion rights. Driving voters to the polls to vote for this critical amendment and against Karamo is all a part of the same fight. Michiganders will be deciding the future of their democracy and their rights on November 8th. need to give Jocelyn Benson all the help possible to make sure she wins. [Pitch in today to split a contribution with Jocelyn Benson and to help ensure that we can elect Jocelyn and more great pro-democracy candidates all across the country.]( Appreciate your time, -Doug Paid for by Right Side of History PAC.
