[US Department of Labor] [US Department of Labor - Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs] [Hispanic Heritage Month] Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) celebrates the rich cultures, history, and accomplishments of the Hispanic community. At OFCCP, we are passionate about building workplaces that ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute to the success of our economy and our nation. That is why eliminating workplace discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, or national origin is a central part of the OFCCP mission. In his 2023 [Presidential Proclamation](marking National Hispanic Heritage Month, President Biden stated: “I have often said that America can be defined in one word: possibilities. The Hispanic community has always embodied that ideal. It lives in the dreams of those who have only just arrived here and in the legacy of families who have been here for centuries. Latinos have helped chart America’s course since our start — as doctors and engineers; artists and entrepreneurs; and leaders in science, business, labor, government, and military and across grassroots movements.” The President’s words are a reminder of how Hispanic Americans have contributed immensely to America’s success. Even with these gains, Hispanic workers continue to encounter prejudice and discrimination that impede their ability to fully participate in the workplace. OFCCP has a critical opportunity to identify barriers to opportunity and strengthen recruitment, hiring, compensation, and promotional practices to ensure all workers from every zip code in America can access good jobs with equitable pay. OFCCP is committed to strengthening its enforcement program so that workers and job seekers do not experience discrimination because of their race, ethnicity, or national origin.
