FARE grants fund community organizations’ efforts to improve job quality through projects that address harmful workplace norms and employ strategies to prevent and reduce gender-based violence and harassment. Workplace violence and harassment harms women from underserved and historically marginalized communities disproportionately. These communities include women of color, LGBTQI+ people, women with disabilities and women affected by persistent poverty and inequality. This funding opportunity will help address the significant underrepresentation of women in Registered Apprenticeship in skilled trades, such as construction, and in emerging, high-growth industries like manufacturing, infrastructure, cybersecurity and healthcare. Currently, women only comprise approximately 14 percent of Registered Apprentices while they account for nearly half the U.S. labor force.
