That's why it breaks our hearts to think of all the unwanted dogs who receive nothing back for their loyalty, trust, and affection. Pearl & Barley's story At 13 years old, Pearl and Barley should have been enjoying their retirement years in nothing but comfort, surrounded by love. But sadly, this was not the case. With extremely matted fur and sore skin, Pearl and Barley’s welfare was compromised. They were in desperate need of TLC. Help us provide unloved dogs like Pearl and Barley with all the kindness and affection they’ve been missing. [Donate today]( Support our work When these elderly ladies first arrived in our care, they were very nervous and uncomfortable. We were desperate to start showing them all the love they had been missing, but before we could, we needed to address their poor condition. Pearl and Barley received routine vet checks that we provide to all dogs when they first arrive in our care. We discovered that Pearl and Barley were riddled with fleas, which we treated right away. They also had very overgrown toenails. Poor Pearl’s were so bad that one was digging into her paw pad, causing a painful infection that required a course of antibiotics. They were so matted we had to sedate them to effectively remove their coats. This revealed very sore skin which required medication and treatment baths with special shampoo. They both received much-needed dental work and Barley was put on a bespoke diet to help with her poorly tummy. It can take a great deal of time, care, and expertise to get unloved dogs like Pearl and Barley to feel like their old selves again. We need your help to provide dogs with the treatment they need to live normal, happy, pain-free lives. [Donate today]( Help us care After their transformation, Pearl and Barley started to look and feel like the special older ladies that they were. They were finally ready to start the journey of finding their perfect home where they could live out the rest of their lives in comfort. There are hundreds of dogs still missing out on the love they deserve, but with your help, we can mend their hearts too. Thank you!
