Whether it’s a ham sandwich and crisp-based happening, or a prosecco and homemade hummus affair, no British picnic is complete without a dog or two. [Here’s our guide](5715068@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) on helping Rover and Roverina make the most of your picnic, WITHOUT making off with the sausage rolls and/or sushi. • Lead on, MacDog – keep your super furry animal on-lead and tie the end to a stake in the ground. Simple yet effective, it prevents picnic pitch invasions and you can always [buy an extra-long lead](5715098@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) if you’d like to allow your dog a wee bit of wandering about room. • Every day I’m snuffleing – bring a snuffle mat fully of teeny, tasty titbits scattered within its tendrils. It will not only keep your dog entertained for ages, it may also make them sleepy afterwards. Mental exercise has the benefit of making most dogs feel just as tired as physical exercise. [Here’s how to make a snuffle mat.](5715099@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) • King Kong – pack your dog’s Kong and fill it with his regular dog food, remembering to seal the end with something squishy and yummy. Peanut butter or squeezy cheese make excellent Kong sealants. Top tip: a frozen Kong makes a super long-lasting, refreshing treat on a hot day. ○ [Hot weather advice](5715100@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) ○ [Keeping your garden dog-friendly](5715101@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) ○ [Top 7 things to teach your dog this summer](5715102@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) ○ [Enrichment ideas for the summer](5715103@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) [All summer advice here!](5715104@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) 5715105@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@ [Wag is out!](5715069@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) The summer edition of Wag! magazine is out now. Prior to joining Dogs Trust, Owen was the Chief Executive of the Movember Foundation. His labradoodle, Dixie, is very excited about making friends with the team, both two legged and four. Owen is pictured here with one of our Dogs Trust Basildon pooches. Owen says, “Dogs Trust is a wonderful charity and we have lots of exciting projects in the pipeline, including a new rehoming centre in Cardiff which will open in 2021 and several initiatives to enable more people to understand their dogs. I’m absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead an organisation that has such a positive impact on canine welfare, both in the UK and across the world.” [Meet our new CEO!](5715071@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) 5715108@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@ [#MyDogIsForLife](5715072@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) 40 years ago, our slogan ‘A Dog is for Life, Not Just for Christmas’™ was created, and we’ve been striving to spread that message of lifelong love ever since. To celebrate this milestone, we’ve created the [#MyDogIsForLife](5715077@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) project, asking our supporters (that’s you!) to send us some of your favourite moments you’ve captured on camera of you and your best friends over the last year. Despite his slightly greying smile, Potter is a youthful pooch with oodles of energy and love to give. Potter loves to play and explore the great outdoors and he’s positively jumping for joy at the prospect of plenty of long walks with his new family! Could you have a space in your heart for an older pooch like Potter? It’s important to find out what they do enjoy, to make sure their birthday celebrations can be filled with waggy tails and slobbery chops. Here are some fun – and safe – ideas to make sure your pooch knows they’re the top dog in your life on their birthday. [It’s paw-ty time!](5715112@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) 5715081@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@ [Have you accidentally bought a smuggled puppy?](5715113@IMCmKqjNNlGCTZQX9LRlKV7M-SB24CwzDnWEh3mNse0.@) Puppy smuggling is a huge problem in the UK and we urgently need your help to put a stop to this cruel trade. Often people don’t know they’ve bought a smuggled pup until it’s too late. A puppy is innocently bought online, but it’s only when it gets sick that the vet realises they have a foreign microchip. Many of these smuggled puppies suffer life-threatening health conditions that may not be obvious, and some don’t survive, leaving their buyers helpless and heartbroken. If you have bought a puppy from somebody which later turned out to be an illegally imported pup, we would love to hear your story. We need your help so we can make sure other people can avoid buying from these dangerous people, who put making a profit before dog welfare. Please email us at [wag@dogstrust.org.uk](mailto:wag@dogstrust.org.uk?subject=RE:%20Have%20you%20accidently%20bought%20a%20smuggled%20puppy?).
