I’m reaching out to you today with a critical message about supermajorities, Democratic leaders

I’m reaching out to you today with a critical message about supermajorities, Democratic leadership, and the importance of building our power at the state level.   It’s North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, and I have an important opportunity for you. I hope you’ll take a moment to hear me out: As a Democratic Governor in a state with a Republican-controlled legislature, I’m no stranger to tough legislative fights. And as a key supporter in the fight to elect state Democrats in some of the most competitive races on the ballot, I know you aren’t either. In states all across our country, far-right Republican legislators have been waging an all-out assault on our rights, our freedoms, and even our very democracy itself – and in North Carolina, we’re seeing the consequences of these attacks in real time. Only weeks after securing a razor-thin supermajority in the legislature, GOP lawmakers used their power to override my veto with every Republican voting yes (even the Republicans who promised their constituents to protect the right to abortion) and every Democrat voting no. But they didn’t stop there. Now, Republicans are trying to game the system to hang on to their supermajority for years to come, creating new barriers to voting rights and giving themselves more power over state elections, all while checking off boxes on their far-right wishlist, including public education cuts and tax breaks for the wealthy. I refuse to let these attacks go unchecked. We need to do everything in our power to break up Republicans’ narrow supermajority – and we’re not too far out of reach: The GOP is clutching on to its veto-proof power with just a one-seat margin. [Will you chip in $7 right now to expand Democratic power, break up Republican supermajorities, and secure a more progressive future in North Carolina and beyond?]( If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately. [Chip in $7 »]( [Chip in $25 »]( [Chip in $50 »]( [Chip in $100 »]( [Chip in another amount »]( Republicans aren’t just abusing their power in North Carolina – GOP state legislators are furthering their far-right agendas across the country. We can fix this problem at the ballot box: By electing Democrats to state legislatures nationwide, we can fight back against Republicans' extreme platform and elect leaders who will fight for a more progressive future in states like yours. We’ll need a tidal wave of support to make this vision a reality – and that starts with grassroots Democrats like you stepping up to the plate and investing in this fight. [Will you join me in supporting the work of the DLCC and rush $7 right now to help power state Democrats to victory in 2023, 2024, and beyond?]( With gratitude, [Gov.
