We are proud to do our part to defend and amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community while making sure the GOP’s hateful attacks don’t slip under the radar. --------------------------------------------------------------- 🌈 Numbers to be proud of: Representation matters 💙 There are at least 222 openly LGBTQ+ state legislators currently serving in legislatures across the country – that’s a 23% increase in openly LGBTQ+ state legislators from 2022! 💛 47 states now have at least one openly LGBTQ+ state legislator ❤️ Every state with Democratic legislative majorities explicitly prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation when it comes to employment, housing, and public accommodations. 🚨 Numbers you need to know: Republicans are on the attack 🟦 Over 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in nearly 40 states around the country this year – attacking this community has become a mainstay priority for the GOP 🟪 24 states, all with GOP majorities, have no anti-discrimination state law protections for gender identity and sexual orientation when it comes to housing, employment, and public accommodations. 🟫 25 states have laws or regulations banning gender-affirming care for minors.
