Mid year diyAudio store newsletter Mid year diyAudio store newsletter [View this email in your browser]( DIY headphone amps, pre amps, power amps and Burning Amps! A lot of great new do-it-yourself kits have been added since our last newsletter for the intrepid DIYer: - Pete Millett's [Starving Student II]( headphone / preamplifier - Nelson Pass's [B1 with Korg Triode]( preamplifier PCBs & JFETs - Elekit's [TU8600R-SE]( headphone / power amplifier with Lundahl Transformers Linear Systems have also given us some [great video footage from the 2018 Burning Amp presentations]( as well as an (almost) full range of Linear Systems [LSJ74]( and [LSK170]( JFETs. There's also plenty of winter projects currently brewing, stay tuned... Starving Student II Headphone / Preamplifier The [Starving Student II]( is a collaboration between diyAudio and Pete Millett, one of the most well known names in the DIY world. The first two batches earlier this year sold out quickly. Batch 3 is available from today. It's a hybrid design, CCS jumper to play with clipping/distortion, operates at a safe 48VDC and can operate as both a headphone amp or a pre-amp. Everything is included for you to finish it in an afternoon. Easy and fun. Once you've soldered it together, the completed board will slide directly into the matching chassis, which is of typical Hifi2000 standards. 6L6 has just finished a beautiful [step-by-step build guide](. It's just $119 each for the kit or chassis and $229 for both. [Learn More]( B1 with Korg Triode PCB & JFETs Preamplifier At Burning Amp Festival 2017 Nelson presented a version of a pre-amp using the Korg Nutube dual triode. It's proved to be an incredibly popular project with over 2,500 posts in the [discussion thread]( on diyAudio. The [B1 with Korg Triode PCBs]( are now available in the store complete with Fairchild JFETs and matched tweaking resistors for an incredible price of just $25, all directly supplied from Nelson. A full kit with chassis is also coming in a month or so, first as a small "pioneers" batch with a larger batch to follow once any kinks have been ironed out. There is a [kit wait list]( you can join if you're interested in that. [Learn More]( Elekit's Stereophile Recommended Component: The TU8600R 300B Tube Power / Headphone Amplifier Elekit's [TU8600R]( was recently reviewed in Stereophile magazine to much praise and is now on their list of recommended components. The diyAudio Store is selling a special edition with Takman resistors and a pair of matching Lundahl output transformers imported from Sweden. This is a substantial kit and weighs in at nearly 40 pounds. Like all Elekit products, it is produced to the highest standards in Japan and includes a full instruction manual in English. The TU8600R-SE is $1,299, optionally with Lundahl transformers for $1,874 (tubes not included). Check out the [TU8600R-SE information page and Stereophile Review]( for the full story. [Learn More]( Linear Systems Burning Amp 2018 Presentation Videos & JFET update Linear Systems has produced a great high quality collection of [2018 Burning Amp presentation videos]( including the slides, featuring: - Jim Tiemann (Amp camp amp decompression and community outreach) - Nelson Pass (H2 & LX Mini Crossover) - Paul Norton (LIS Product Update) - Roger Modjeski (Tubes) - Wayne Colburn (N Channel JFET amplifier) - Various Burning Amp project demonstrations There is also a heartfelt tribute to Siegfried Linkwitz from his friend Laurie Fincham. [Watch the videos](. In related store news, we now have Linear Systems [LSK170]( grade ABCD and [LSJ74]( JFETs grade ACD. The notable exception of course is the always-out-of-stock and much in demand LSJ74-B (which also means no matched pairs). LIS has advised us however that new and plentiful stock of the LSJ74-B will be coming "soon". Fingers crossed. In related news, we now have Linear Systems [LSK170]( P Channel JFETs in grade A/B/C/D, and [LSJ74]( N Channel JFETs grade A/C/D. LSJ74 grade B is still out of stock (so no matched pairs). We've been advised that new and plentiful stock of the LSJ74-B is "on the horizon". No ETA. Thanks for your time and happy building! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
