Have you heard of the site Temu? [Temu]( is an ecommerce website and app that allows customers to access affordable products by partnering with cost-efficient producers. By cutting out the middleman, consumers can find a pair of sunglasses for $2 and even wedding dresses for $23. Plus, there’s free shipping for most orders. With shoppers exhausted from high prices and inflation, Temu is a very attractive option. And they have already surpassed their annual sales goal of $10 billion and are on track to make $18 billion by the end of this year. 📈 🚀 The skyrocketing search stats: - Average of 24 million global searches for Temu in the past month with a 1329% growth in searches in the past year (Source: Exploding Topics) - [Pinduoduo, Temu’s parent company, recently beat out Alibaba]( as China’s most valuable ecommerce company ([Source: Yahoo Finance]() - Temu became the most downloaded free app in iPhone this year ([Source: Mac Rumors]() - On average, users spent 18 mins per day on Temu in Q2 versus 10 mins on Amazon ([Source: Bloomberg]() - During BFCM, Temu became the fastest growing multicategory retailer with traffic up 84% compared with 2% on Amazon ([Source: Bloomberg]() Social media users are contributing heavily to Temu’s growth in popularity as customers film their unboxing videos to show cool products they found on Temu for very cheap. Temu also takes advantage of short-form videos on their social media to show all of the useful gadgets they have in their deep product assortment. Users who get their friends to make an account can also earn credits that can go towards their next purchase. 🆚 Temu vs. Amazon? As Temu experiences rapid growth, comparisons to Amazon are inevitable. While Temu has access to a vast wholesale network, it grapples with logistical challenges. Customers have reported delays, incorrect orders, and subpar customer service. However, Temu is actively partnering with third-party logistics providers to address these issues and is expanding its European network to achieve a global presence. Temu’s growing presence means… - Other ecommerce players like Amazon and Walmart may need to slash prices in order to compete - Meta ad costs could get really expensive next year as Temu invests more heavily into advertising - You should position your product as the superior ‘non knock off’ product for budget conscious consumers Despite its popularity, Temu does not yet match Amazon's name recognition or same-day delivery promise. They will need to sort out their logistical issues, but they will continue to have a huge presence on the ecommerce landscape in 2024.
