Hey, I'm back after a nice long weekend up here in Canada. I took my kids down to Niagara Falls yesterday (it's about 50 minutes from where I live) and we enjoyed the day there. Now, it's back to work! In my last email, I wrote about leveraging paid traffic for faster and predictable results. In this email, I'm going to write about leveraging other people's time and talents to also get faster results. This one is a bit more tricky because hiring people to work in your business can be a little more complex. Now, if you've never hired anyone before, theyre might be many questions racing through your mind, such as: 1. What tasks to outsource? 2. How much should you pay? 3. What if the person is a dud and it doesn't work out? 4. What if you're passive and dread the thought of having to fire someone. 5. What taxes do you have to pay if you hire them as an employee? ...and so on. My recommendation is to start leveraging other people's talents to first take over the tedious tasks that you do in your business. You can easily outsource these tasks without the need for employees. My favorite places for outsourcing low-cost labour are: 1. Onlinejobs.ph 2. Fiverr.com 3. iWriter.com 4. Upworks.com We pay outsourced workers in the Philippines as little as $1.50 per hour to do the repetitive and tedious tasks. This frees up time for my local team and I to work on more important tasks. Tasks that move the needle. The great thing about outsourced work is that there are no commitments and you can just end your work contracts. Hiring employees is a different story. If your business grows big enough, at some point you may need to hire employees. We once had one of our call centers set up in-house and had employees actually show up to our physical location. It worked out well initially... but anytime you have 5-6 people working in the same room, you're going to end up with drama. Unnecessary drama which hurt productivity and caused unnecessary stress. Long story short, we ended up shutting down our internal call center and outsourcing our call center to a third party company. But you're not going to be hiring other people just to save you time. The reality is that some people are just much better at doing certain things. Why bother writing your own sales copy to save money if someone can write it much better than you and 5X your conversions? Why bother creating your own graphics when someone can do a much more professional job in a fraction of the time it would take you? I really believe that managing other people is a skill in itself and I really wish I had taken a psychology course when I was back in college. I think it would have helped me manage people better.
