News from Instagram, Twitter, Google and more.... ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Hey, {NAME} Sorav here! Here's our "New Things in Digital" newsletter for the week. 1. Instagram is developing video reaction options for Reels: Currently, Instagram is testing a feature that prompts users to create a reaction video from the Reels sheet. That might make people more likely to share Reels content, as the quick reminder might inspire you to do the same in your own videos. 2. WhatsApp ties up with the Indian government to provide in-app digital identity documents: Meta might have made a significant step forward in its push to make WhatsApp an essential utility in India. Today, the Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology announced that Indian citizens can now access various official documents via WhatsApp. 3. Instagram updates its visual elements to be more in line with its purpose: IG has been undergoing a broader brand refresh, which includes changes to its default font, layout, and other design elements. Instagram’s also rolled out a new typeface, called ‘’Instagram Sans’, which has been designed with the platform’s heritage in mind. 4. YouTube is updating the way comments are displayed: YouTube is changing the way that video comments are displayed on the desktop, with a new ‘teaser’ type presentation, which will show a single comment below the clip. When expanded, however, the new desktop comments stream will soon open to the right of the playback window, as opposed to expanding below. 5. Twitter rolls out ‘Twitter Create’ mini-site in order to boost its creator appeal: Taking another step in working to boost its creator appeal, Twitter has launched a new Twitter Create mini-site. It will provide tips, insights, and examples designed to help creators optimize their Twitter presence. 6. Google Maps now shows justifications for destinations on the mobile app: Google is now showing justifications directly in the Google Maps mobile interface and app for businesses that you might be interested in. Justifications are basically reviews or comments about the business that Google might think you want to see overlayed. 7. Google appends the 'Explore Outfits Shop Similar' box to Search: With this new Explore Outfits and Shop Similar box, we can now see super-large images that slide into other images in Google's search results. Here is a GIF of it in action. 8. Bing is testing out a branded sidebar navigation tool: Microsoft Bing is testing a branded side bar explorer bar on the left side for some branded queries. I was able to replicate it in Safari on Mac but not on Chrome yet. Basically if you search for brands, some will show a sidebar that replicates the sitelinks it shows in the search results. Did we miss out on any significant updates? Let us know by replying to this email. Regards Sorav JainTeam Digital Scholar P.S. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
