1. Instagram begins initial test of NFT display options: IG is launching an initial test of its new NFT features with selected creators in the US. The process will include integrations for three blockchain platforms: Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow. It will offer verified NFT ownership verification on Rainbow, Trust Wallet and MetaMask accounts among other important developments regarding this initiative. Users will be able to display their NFTs on the main IG feed, within Stories or in Direct Messages. 2. LinkedIn rolls out live captions for audio events and custom URL listings in Creator profiles: You’ll now have the option to read along with what’s being said, which will improve accessibility, while also providing more ways for all users to tune in to live audio discussions whenever they have time. Audio meet-ups probably fit better on LinkedIn than in other apps, as the professional focus of the platform may make them more relevant and topical, while more people are likely looking to catch up with those in their industry amid the WFH shift. 3. YouTube adds updated green screen options for Shorts: Now, you’ll have a much wider pool of content to choose from for your Shorts background, with the original creator attributed via a source link within the Shorts display. For brands, there could also be a range of ways to use this to highlight industry-relevant clips, showcase product updates, promote your latest videos and more. In addition to this, YouTube’s also rolling out its new, simplified Shorts iteration option to more users. 4. Instagram is testing a new Following tab in Reels in India: According to a new report, Indian users now have the "Following" tab on the side-swipe while they scroll through their Reels. It enables people to see videos submitted by artists that they follow with this quick action. This is comparable to TikTok’s layout which has its own following, recommended and trending tabs. That’s why the popular app can display more videos than what one could possibly keep up with in a day. 5. Twitter tests option to start a Space session about a Tweet: Twitter’s working on a new feature that lets you get started on something, explaining what it is as you go along. This they said might spark a whole trend of immediately expressing your thoughts through facial expressions or direct to the point. Twitter’s been trying to work out how to capitalize on its position as the place to be for real-time chatter for years, with TV shows and sports discussions being the top examples of its leadership in this space. 6. LinkedIn is closer to launching the 'Funny' reaction option: LinkedIn’s looking to expand on its current reactions set with a new ‘Funny’, laughing emoji, so you’ll soon have another way to register a quick response to those hilarious classics! 7. Google adds a ‘Popular Destinations’ carousel on Search: Google had added a "popular destinations" search-related carousel to the search results for some queries. When you click on any of those results in the carousel, you are taken directly into the Google Travel vertical of search results. 8. Google adds a ‘More About’ carousel on both mobile and desktop versions of Search: Google has a carousel in both desktop and mobile search that leads with "more about." For example, for a query on [apply business loan], you will find a carousel that reads "More about small business loans" with stories about publishers and government websites. 9. Google adds ‘Others Are Asking’ prompt in Maps: Google shows "others are asking" to trigger more people to answer questions about the local business or venue. It shows you questions in a carousel, linked to "answer this question."
