Surprising news from Instagram, Twitter and more.... ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Hey, {NAME} Sorav here! Here's our "New Things in Digital" newsletter for the week. Also, learn about Blueprint to High Paying Career in 2022, today at 4 PM. [Register here!]( 1. Instagram tests 'Pinned Posts' on user profiles: IG will let users pin up to three posts to the top of their grid, providing more customization options. Instagram is also testing an "Edit Grid" feature, which lets you rearrange your profile gallery however you want, regardless of when it was posted. Instagram marketers could benefit from a greater creative capacity and control as a result of this. 2. Twitter is testing 'Closed Captions' option in videos: With the new button, you can both switch captions on (where possible) and see which clips actually have captions available. This year, Twitter has worked on improving its accessibility options, including improvements to its alt-text description display (including a similar 'ALT' button on tweets with descriptions) and auto captions for videos. 3. Instagram makes Product Tags available to all US users: In addition to making direct links to products and brands available to everyone, this will encourage more users to organically share product links, as well as encourage more people to click through, and ideally buy the item. It makes sense to leverage the many IG users who are already connecting with brands and getting updates on products in the app, and the shopping tags are another way to get users to spend more in the app. 4. Twitter's edit option will have a publicly viewable 'Edit History' option: Twitter’s coming edit option will not update the original tweet, as such, but will instead create a new version of the tweet that would be inserted in its place. That would then enable Twitter to include an ‘Edit History’ log within each tweet. 5. Instagram is testing removing the 'Recent' tab from the Hashtag search: Instagram wants to make hashtags as valuable as possible, while Instagram also points to its recent update to help connect people to more information around social causes linked to hashtags, as a guide note for its future direction here. 6. Twitter is testing promotions of third-party tools within the app: Twitter has launched a new initiative which will see it promote third-party tools, built with its developer platform, when users, for example, block somebody in the app. The listed tools are being developed through the Twitter Toolbox, which it launched in February, which is essentially a showcase of reliable Twitter analytics and creation tools developed by third-party providers. 7. Google's 'Scroll-to-Text' feature for site links live for Search Results in the US: Back in November 2021, Google began testing Sitelinks that support the scroll to text feature. Well, it seems like this is fully live in the US desktop search results. 8. Google writes its own Knowlege Panel on Google Search: There are many instances of Google citing itself for some knowledge panels in Google Search. It seems Google uses AI or machine learning to write these knowledge panels. Did we miss out on any significant updates? Let us know by replying to this email.
