Trump is disqualified. Help make sure the U.S. Supreme Court agrees. [Democracy for America Advocacy Fund](#) {NAME}, The Colorado Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump's involvement in the January 6th insurrection makes him ineligible to run for president. And of course, they’re 100% right. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution was written after the Civil War to prevent past, present and future insurrectionists from holding any public office ever again. But despite the fact this ruling is solid on both the facts and the law, the case will now go to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it may get overturned. One reason is Justice Clarence Thomas. Justice Thomas should not hear this case. His wife Ginni was actively involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election. At a minimum the code of ethics adopted by the Supreme Court itself just weeks ago, makes it clear that a justice should recuse himself from hearing any case in which personal entanglements could lead a fair-minded member of the public to question impartiality. So far, Justice Thomas has recused himself from one Trump trial, very likely because of the intense public pressure. But he has not recused himself from not all Trump election cases. [That’s why we have to quickly and powerfully build a groundswell of public pressure demanding Thomas recuse from the Trump disqualification case -- NOW.]( [Add Your Name]( Let’s get into some specifics: The Washington Post reports Ginni Thomas sent at least 21 messages to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows repeatedly pressing for Trump to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. At the same time as these messages, Trump was speaking out publicly about his belief the Supreme Court should step in to overturn the results. “This is a major fraud on our nation,” Trump said the morning after the election. “So we’ll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court.” The text messages reveal an extraordinary pipeline between Ginni Thomas and President Donald Trump’s top aide during a period when Trump and his allies were vowing to go to the Supreme Court in an effort to negate the election results. In addition to Trump’s Chief of Staff, Ginni Thomas contacted state level legislative leaders in at least three states, including Arizona and Wisconsin, calling for them to challenge the election results and supporting the fake electors scheme. [Ginni Thomas can do what she wants, of course, but what she does has consequences for Justice Thomas. He cannot be impartial in cases related to her work. Sign the petition to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas: Recuse from Trump disqualification trial now.]( Thank you for taking action today. - National Campaign Team Democracy for America Advocacy Fund [Power This Campaign]( Democracy for America Advocacy Fund is a 501c4 organization.
