The future of our democracy depends on our ability to level the playing field and reduce wealth inequality. [Democracy for America Advocacy Fund](#) {NAME}, The immense financial holdings of a select few are dictating the direction of our country, choking the breath from our democratic system, and threatening to unravel the social bonds that unite us. Case in point: Elon Musk buying Twitter, Jeff Bezos purchasing the Washington Post, and, frankly, even Donald Trump becoming President are all a direct result of the ultra-wealthy having an unrivaled capacity to shape public opinion simply because of the power it brings to them. But no one person should wield such a massive amount of influence. That’s why Representatives Barbara Lee and Summer Lee, along with other dedicated lawmakers, have introduced a bold, piece of legislation: The Oppose Limitless Inequality Growth and Reverse Community Harms (OLIGARCH) Act which introduces a tiered wealth tax structure to address America’s staggering wealth disparity. Under this act, individuals with extreme wealth will be subject to varying tax rates based on their net worth in relation to the median household wealth: - 2% for wealth between 1,000 and 10,000 times median household wealth - 4% for wealth between 10,000 and 100,000 times median household wealth - 6% for wealth between 100,000 and 1,000,000 times median household wealth - 8% for wealth over 1,000,000 times median household wealth [We must remind Congress that they were elected to serve the needs of all Americans, not just the few who sit atop mountains of wealth. So send a message to your representative urging them to co-sponsor and pass the OLIGARCH Act and tax extreme wealth.]( [Sign & Send]( By placing reasonable constraints on wealth accumulation, we can temper the concentration of power and influence in the hands of a few. A tax targeting wealth inequality is about protection for our democracy and the promise of equal opportunity for all. The OLIGARCH Act goes even further by introducing rigorous enforcement measures. It mandates a 30% audit rate of the ultra-rich covered by this tax, and imposes penalties for substantial valuation understatements, thereby ensuring that our tax laws are honored and enforced. Detractors of the OLIGARCH Act will undoubtedly emerge, clinging to their ill-gotten privileges. They will cry foul, citing alleged property rights infringements and threatening to relocate their wealth to tax havens. Let them weep.  The OLIGARCH Act is the bulwark against their unfettered exploitation, ensuring that personal rights are upheld while societal well-being takes precedence over their greed. [Now is the time to dismantle the pillars of inequality. Demand that your representative co-sponsor and pass the OLIGARCH Act now to usher in an era of genuine prosperity for all.]( Together, we can bring about the change we need by standing up for equality and democracy. - Amanda Amanda Ford, Director Democracy for America Advocacy Fund [Power This Campaign]( Democracy for America Advocacy Fund is a 501c4 organization.
