Right now is the best time to convince the cable companies to stop using subscriber fees to subsidize the Fox “News” propaganda machine. [Democracy for America Advocacy Fund](#) {NAME}, With Tucker Carlson gone, and Fox “News” paying a $787 million settlement to Dominion Voting Services for false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election, Fox is in the weakest position it has been in a long time. What you might not know, if you are a cable subscriber, is that you have been helping fund the Fox propaganda machine with your subscriber fees – even if you never watch it! This is because all the major cable companies actually pay Fox for the privilege of putting their lies and disinformation on the air. These payments are known as carriage fees, and they come straight from the fees that cable consumers pay for their bundles and packages. And right now, these carriage fees are up for negotiation. [Tell the cable companies to stop forcing their customers to subsidize right-wing hate, lies, and disinformation! Click below to sign and send your direct message to the CEOs of Comcast, Charter, Xfinity, and Cox Cable.]( [Deplatform Fox]( These carriage fees are so essential to Fox’s bottom line, that Fox could lose every advertiser and still make a profit just from these fees alone. They provide the largest part of Fox’s revenue, but how many cable subscribers actually want their money to keep the nation’s primary purveyor of hate and disinformation afloat? The cable companies need to know how many of us object to this misuse of our entertainment dollars. They need to be reminded of their options while they have a diminished Fox at the bargaining table. There are a number of ways the cable companies could serve their customers better, at the expense of Rupert Murdoch’s ultra-divisive media creation. They could treat Fox like almost every other cable news channel and stop paying Fox any carriage fees at all. They could offer a Fox-free cable bundle for those of us who want nothing to do with continuing to subsidize the spread of lies and falsehood disguised as “news.” And then there’s the most effective anti-defamation move of all: to deplatform Fox “News” altogether. Any of these actions would be an improvement over the current situation, but the cable companies need to hear from all of us to understand how many of their customers are demanding they take action. And now is the time, when the contracts are up for renewal and the cable companies are in the best position to establish their demands. [And cable companies have been responsive to similar consumer demands in the recent past. Last summer, Verizon and DirecTV both stopped streaming One America News in response to a similar campaign. Let’s make sure Fox is next. Send your message now.]( Tucker Carlson may be gone for now, but if we want to take away the bullhorn itself, we have to finish the job and deplatform Fox. Now is the time to send our message, when it will have the greatest impact, while Fox is reeling and the cable companies are motivated to respond to their consumers. Thank you for taking action today. - Amanda Amanda Ford, Director Democracy for America Advocacy Fund [Power This Campaign]( Democracy for America Advocacy Fund is a 501c4 organization.
