We’ve never had a former President indicted. His trial is a matter of enormous national interest, and should be televised. [Democracy for America Advocacy Fund](#) {NAME}, The twice impeached, one-term ex-President Donald Trump has been arrested and indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney in New York. Trump faces many potential criminal charges in cases ranging from the federal level Special Counsel investigations into incitement of the January 6th insurrection and illegal handling of presidential records and classified documents to the state level local county inquiry into election tampering and intimidation in Georgia, but New York is the first jurisdiction to indict Trump on felony charges. While the specific charges are currently sealed, the basic facts are known: Trump is accused of committing and covering-up campaign finance fraud by paying $130,000 in hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels in an attempt to hide an extramarital affair before the 2016 election. The first-ever felony indictment of a former United States President is historic and the public interest requires complete transparency from beginning to end. [The public has a right to know and that means Trump’s trial must be televised, but right now, New York doesn’t allow cameras in court. Please add your name in calling on NY lawmakers to televise Trump’s trial now.]( [Sign the Petition]( No one is above the law. The fact we as a country are finally holding a lawbreaking former president accountable for his actions is a huge step forward for the integrity of our country and shows the real strength of our democracy. But without a completely transparent trial that allows the public to see everything every step of the way, it’s too easy for the truth to be lost and propaganda and lies to reign supreme. [That’s why NY lawmakers must take action. Please add your name demanding action now.]( Thank you for standing up for transparent accountability now. - Amanda Amanda Ford, Director Democracy for America Advocacy Fund [Power This Campaign]( Democracy for America Advocacy Fund is a 501c4 organization.
