We’ve never had a former President indicted. His trial is a matter of enormous national interest, and should be televised. [Democracy for America Advocacy Fund](#) {NAME}, Donald Trump’s trial must be televised. We cannot allow disinformation propagandists to cherry-pick coverage and distort the facts. The American public needs to see for themselves the extent of Trump’s potential corruption and criminal activity. Think about the impact Fox “News” could have on the national narrative if there are no cameras in the courtroom exposing the truth. From the Big Lie and the Dominion voting machine defamation lawsuit to Tucker Carlson’s revisionist history of the January 6th insurrection, we’ve seen just how powerful and dangerous misinformation is. Think about how much worse it would be if so many Americans hadn’t already seen what really happened for themselves. So as Trump now heads to a criminal trial and he’s already fanning the flames among his supporters -- inciting them to violence with his usual hysterical and unfounded claims of political persecution -- we must make sure the trial is televised. Unfortunately, New York is currently the only state in the nation totally barring cameras in court.[1] Fortunately, NY’s highest court has ruled that the state legislature can allow -- or even require -- cameras in the courtroom and Governor Hochul can sign it into law before the trial begins. [In the interests of truth and justice, it’s vital that Trump’s trial be televised – so that America and the world can watch the fair and impartial administration of justice that is the foundation of our legal system. Join us in calling on New York lawmakers to televise Trump’s trial now.]( [Demand Action]( Trump faces many potential criminal charges in cases ranging from the federal level Special Counsel investigations into incitement of the January 6th insurrection and illegal handling of presidential records and classified documents to the state level local county inquiry into election tampering and intimidation in Georgia, but New York is the first jurisdiction to indict Trump on felony charges. Whether Trump is convicted or not, the world -- especially Trump’s supporters -- deserve to see the proceedings as they happen so that there are no questions about how justice was administered For the sake of democracy, there isn’t a more important matter than the indictment of a former president where the American public needs to be reassured of equal treatment under the law. [The New York Legislature and Governor Hochul can change the law, so New York, just like in 48 other states, allows televised coverage of both trial and appellate courts -- but they need to hear from you to act. Tell New York lawmakers: Televise Trump’s trial and show the world no one in America is above the law.]( Thank you for your advocacy on this issue, and we look forward to watching the trial with you. - Amanda Amanda Ford, Director Democracy for America Advocacy Fund [Power This Campaign]( [1] [New York high court says camera ban constitutional]( Democracy for America Advocacy Fund is a 501c4 organization.
