A new Republican spending bill calls for $11 billion in cuts to K-12 public education. We must fight

A new Republican spending bill calls for $11 billion in cuts to K-12 public education. We must fight against this assault on the American dream for future generations. [Democracy for America Advocacy Fund](#) {NAME}, The Republicans want billions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, but what do they want for education? The Republicans’ proposed spending bill for nxt year calls for $11 billion dollars in spending cuts for K-12 education. That’s a 14% cut for the Department of Education. And they don’t plan to stop there. Ultimately their goal is to eliminate the Department of Education altogether, and to divert public education funding to private religious schools through vouchers. This is their vision for the role of education in the White Christian Nationalist country they have planned out in Trump’s Project 2025. But Republicans are not waiting for 2025: they are pushing for these cuts right now, including $5 billion in cuts for Title 1 Grants to assist low-income families. Vice President Kamala Harris stands in opposition to these cuts, saying, “I'm opposed to any policy that would deny in our country any human being from access to public safety, public education, or public health, period.” [Add your voice to the voice of Vice President Harris! The Republican vision for cutting education from kindergarten through college preparation programs is a non-starter. Stand with us against the Republicans’ attacks on public education!]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( At a time when the nation’s students continue to deal with the fallout from the COVID crisis, Republicans are seeking to cut mental health support in K-12 schools. They also seek to cut funds for English language acquisition, essential for non-English speakers to integrate successfully into the mainstream. Teacher training programs are on the chopping block, as well as programs designed to help students get a foothold in higher education. Former First Lady Michelle Obama has also emphasized, “Public education is our greatest pathway to opportunity in America.” But Republicans no longer care about the American Dream for the vast majority of Americans. Instead, as they demonstrate by seeking to slash support for children in K-12 schools, they threaten the dreams of millions of young people, who are the future of America. [Fight back! Tell Congress to protect our children and reject Republican attacks on public education today.]( Thank you for helping to build a future we will be proud of! - DFA AF Team [Power This Campaign]( Democracy for America Advocacy Fund is a 501c4 organization.
