It was there I learned what it meant to be a fighter – what it meant to stand up for others when they couldn't stand up for themselves. When I was a high school freshman, my brother Anthony was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. Insurance companies called it a pre-existing condition, and refused him coverage. The bills continued to pile up, even after he died at the age of 20. I saw my family struggle with the cost of health care because insurers refused to offer him coverage, and I felt my parents' pain when they lost a son and were left in financial tatters from medical bills. But my story isn’t unique. So many Pennsylvanians face similar struggles. I understand the challenges many families face because I’ve lived them too. It’s why I decided to run to become a State Representative, and then Auditor General, years ago. Because the people of Pennsylvania deserved someone like them in office – someone who understood what they were going through, and who would fight for them. It’s the same reason I’m running for Attorney General today. [As your Attorney General, I’ll fight like hell for folks like you – just like I fought for Anthony. If you can, please consider supporting my campaign with a donation today →]( [Donate →]( In 2012, I was elected as Pennsylvania’s Auditor General. In that position, I ran a complicated state agency, cracked down on the backlog of untested rape kits and unanswered phone calls to the child abuse hotline, and worked with Governor Wolf to improve our public schools. I rolled up my sleeves to take on greedy corporations and special interests, and even helped save taxpayers over $1 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse. {NAME}, I couldn’t be more proud of my record of advocating and delivering for working Pennsylvania families — no matter how many political extremists and shady special interests stood in my way. As I served my final days as Pennsylvania’s Auditor General, I witnessed something I never thought I would see: A mob, incited by the President of the United States, storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. When MAGA extremists broke into the Capitol and interrupted the peaceful transition of power, they showed us just how much damage Donald Trump and lies and extremism can inflict on our nation. And since that day, Trump and his far-right supporters in Congress and state governments across the nation have continued to push election lies, and fight for the dangerous notion that one man is above the law. My MAGA opponent is working with these very same people trying to undermine our democracy and the rule of law at every turn. He’s even been endorsed by — and proudly rallied with — some of the most extreme election deniers in the country! As Auditor General, I safeguarded Pennsylvania’s elections from any and all threats. And I conducted *real* audits of our election system to make sure your vote counts — accurately and fairly, every election. And as your next Attorney General, I’ll defend our democracy, protect the security of our elections, and always fight for the rights of the people of Pennsylvania. [Winning this election for Pennsylvania Attorney General is absolutely essential if we’re going to defend our democracy.
