[Colorado drags down national marijuana prices in first half of 2017](
The price of a pound of legal marijuana continues to plummet in 2017, according to a new report tracking the commodityâs U.S. spot price index. Wholesale cannabis prices dropped 18.6 percent nationwide in the first half of 2017, with Colorado prices dropping by up to 40 percent compared to the first half of last year, according to Cannabis Benchmarksâ â2017 Mid-Year Wholesale Market Report.â While drastic, the 40 percent decline in Colorado wholesale prices follows the national trend of lower prices in all five states with legal adult-use markets.
[Tribes urged to consider boosting revenue via cannabis industry](
Tribal leaders from California and Washington state last week discussed the potential opening of legal marijuana businesses on tribal lands. Several members of the National Indian Gaming Association attended the meeting and touted the financial and health rewards.

The statewide initiative that legalized recreational marijuana in 2014 allows local governments to ban cannabis businesses within their borders. And on Tuesday, voters in two of Alaskaâs major marijuana-growing areas, including the Fairbanks area, will decide whether to do so. If the proposed bans on marijuana growing, manufacturing, selling and testing are successful, several dozen businesses would be forced to close.
