Democrats cannot stand idly by as Republicans erode our democracy. The 2020 election was the greates

Democrats cannot stand idly by as Republicans erode our democracy. [Democrats][Join us.] Last week, Republicans voted at their convention to categorize the events that took place at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 as “legitimate political discourse.” And now Mitch McConnell and Ronna McDaniel are doing their best to walk it back. Regardless of all of this Republican mess, the bottom line here is this: Breaching the Capitol and trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power is not “discourse.” When voters overwhelmingly rejected his failed leadership, Donald Trump couldn’t accept the results of the 2020 election, so he incited a violent mob on January 6, 2021 -- and now the GOP is running to his defense. Any party that refers to insurrectionists who menaced the halls of Congress, threatened the lives of elected officials, and literally erected gallows on Capitol grounds as engaging in “legitimate political discourse” is too extreme to hold power. We can’t stand idly by as Republicans defend Donald Trump inciting a violent mob and in turn allow them to erode our democracy, so I have to ask: Will you make a $7 donation to the DNC’s Democratic Fight Fund today so that Democrats nationwide have the resources they need to win up and down the ballot come November? [DONATE: $7]( [DONATE: $10]( [DONATE: $25]( [DONATE: $50]( [DONATE: $100]( [Donate another amount]( The 2020 election was the greatest demonstration of democracy in the history of this country. In the middle of a global pandemic, more people voted than ever before in American history. What the GOP is trying to do is rewrite this history. They’re calling an insurrection a protest. They’re claiming their electoral loss is evidence of voter fraud. They’re passing anti-voter laws at the state level to “strengthen” our electoral process -- when they are the very ones threatening it. That’s why the DNC is working nationwide to protect the right to vote, build community coalitions on the ground, and elect Democrats nationwide ahead of the 2022 midterms.
