Rather than showing real leadership, the GOP is playing political games with people’s lives. And Republican politicians like Governor Greg Abbott are failing to do that. Instead of showing real leadership in the face of a global pandemic, Governor Abbott and his Republican flunkies have been focused on opposing health safety measures and arresting the Texas Democrats who are trying to block their voter suppression bill. Here’s the thing: Governor Abbott is only trying to attack public health and rig voting laws because he’s afraid of losing reelection. So, let’s quash his fears. I’m counting on this team to step up to support the critical groundwork we’ll need to defeat every Republican we can in 2021 and 2022. This back-to-school time is supposed to be a fun and exciting time for families across the country. But instead of that joy, Governor Abbott has caused tremendous anxiety for students, parents, and teachers across Texas. Unfortunately, Texas is not an outlier. Republicans are putting their politics before the American people nationwide. Take Florida for example, where Governor DeSantis has banned mask mandates in schools. Or South Carolina, where Governor McMaster even threatened to pull funding from public schools that mandated masks. Or Georgia, where it is now illegal to hand out water to folks waiting in line to vote. Rather than showing real leadership, the GOP is playing political games with people’s lives.
