Today, we celebrate the remarkable educators teaching our nation’s students. [Democrats][Join us.] Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! Today, we celebrate the remarkable educators teaching our nation’s students -- and we acknowledge the work we still have left to do to ensure they have the resources and support they need to succeed, day in and day out. I taught high school before going to law school, so I know firsthand how demanding life in the classroom can be, and I’m grateful that President Biden and Vice President Harris have taken so many steps in the last three years to support educators nationwide. Here are just a few of them: - Through the American Rescue Plan, the Biden-Harris administration has supported early childhood programs -- helping K-12 schools across the country reopen after the height of the COVID pandemic, hiring more educators, boosting salaries, increasing mental health services, and expanding afterschool and summer programs. - President Biden and Vice President Harris have also worked hard to help public service employees -- including educators -- through student loan forgiveness. - And they’ve taken crucial steps to keep our educators and students safe at school, signing into law the most significant gun safety law in nearly three decades, while also authorizing more than $1 billion in mental health services, enabling schools to hire and train thousands of new mental health professionals. If you’re excited about all the work the Biden-Harris administration has already done to support our country’s teachers and you’re ready to spread that message far and wide, I’m personally asking you to become an official Social Ambassador for Democrats and Team Biden-Harris, and play a crucial role in our online organizing efforts leading up to Election Day 2024.
