For example: This week is Black Maternal Health Week, which we recognize once a year from April 11-17th. During the week, we aim to raise awareness about the life-threatening complications of pregnancy in Black women. This week is personal to me as my mother, raised in rural South Carolina, faced many complications throughout her pregnancy with me many years ago. Now as a young woman, I am aware of the potential ramifications of the reversal of Roe v. Wade, and the impact it will have on my life and many like me. However, I am grateful that President Biden and Vice President Harris are actively working towards promoting more equitable health care outcomes for women, particularly for Black women and mothers.
