Here are three reasons you should care: (1) The progress we’ve fought for is on the line. Our grassroots movement has worked hard to elect Democrats in Virginia – and these leaders have made incredible progress on issues like voting rights, gun safety, climate action, fair redistricting, and more. But if we fall short in November, all of this progress will be on the chopping block. (2) If Republicans win, they’ll have the power to impose their extreme MAGA agenda. Across the country, Republicans are passing extreme legislation to restrict reproductive freedom, attack the LGBTQ community, ban books, and more. If the GOP wins on Election Day, there will be nothing to stop them from enacting this extreme agenda. (3) The race is going to be tight – really tight. Republicans need to flip just two seats in the Virginia Senate to win full control of Virginia’s state government. Multi-millionnaire governor Glenn Youngkin is investing heavily in competitive districts – and pro-democracy candidates across the state are counting on grassroots movements like ours to help them keep up.
