Because if our heroes, people like the late Congressman John Lewis, had given up as they fought for equal access to the ballot, the history of this nation would look very different. In an Ohio suit that our affiliate filed, the state Supreme Court has overturned the gerrymandered state legislative maps drawn by the GOP-led commission. In other states, voters -- and the U.S. Department of Justice -- have joined us in challenging manipulated maps. And across the country, hundreds of thousands of people are speaking out against Republican attempts to restrict the freedom to vote.
