Kicking off 2022 with a strategy update

I hope you'll read the whole thing, but if you don't have time, [you can click here to make a donation right now.]( Here's where we are: - With 2021 in the books, more than half of the states have adopted new maps. 279 congressional seats have been drawn, with nearly 156 left. - The states that have yet to adopt maps include important states like Florida, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and New York. - In a number of states where Republicans have forced through gerrymandered maps, voters have filed lawsuits -- and the NDRC's affiliates are proud to support some of those suits. - The U.S. Department of Justice has sued Texas over its manipulated maps. I'm exceptionally proud of the work we did in 2021, which contributed to states from Colorado to Iowa to Michigan and others adopting fair maps. But as you can see, we still have a mountain of work ahead of us -- and we need to get it done before this year's big midterm elections. Passage of the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act -- both of which could move in the Senate very soon -- would be a game-changer for our work, giving us better tools to combat gerrymandering, voter suppression, and Republican attempts to undermine our elections.
