As part of our Democracy Defenders program, Attorney General Eric Holder has endorsed North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs for re-election. She’s a former civil rights attorney who’s been a fair-minded, independent voice on the court — but of course MAGA conservatives are trying to unseat her this November. Her challenger, Judge Jefferson Griffin, has proudly and boldly said that he wants to ensure there’s a Republican majority on the Supreme Court for the upcoming redistricting cycle. Yup, he’s not even *trying* to hide that he wants to manipulate the maps. And he recently signed onto a deeply controversial ruling that would have set a precedent for so-called “personhood” laws in North Carolina — which have led to abortion access restrictions and IVF bans in other states. [We have to stop this guy and extreme candidates running across the country.
