[Paul Begala]( Hi, team, I’m Paul Begala. For decades I’ve worked alongside my buddy James Carville to help elect top Democrats running in some of the toughest races across the country. Suffice to say, I know a thing or two about what it takes to win. And I’ll tell you this right now. It may be an “off-year,” but with three close races in the South, we’re in for a tough ride. [If you already know what’s at stake, please chip in whatever you can right now to help the DGA elect Democratic governors and stop GOP attacks on our fundamental rights. But if you want to know why these races are so important, please read on.]( Here’s my expert analysis of 2023 gubernatorial races and the road ahead: - Kentucky is going to come down to the wire. In 2019, Andy Beshear beat GOP Gov. Matt Bevin by just 5,136 votes – a razor-thin margin. This year’s race is likely to be just as close. Andy is a popular governor with a proven record of results, but he’s up against Mitch McConnell’s hand-picked candidate and the FOUR super PACS propping his campaign up. They’ve already spent or committed to spending $10 MILLION in an attempt to steal this race. The GOP will do or say anything to flip this state red. - In Mississippi, GOP Gov. Tate Reeves is one of the most unpopular governors in the country. And a recent poll shows 21% of Republican voters would back Democratic candidate Brandon Presley over him this year! My DECADES of experience picking winning candidates tells me that Presley has what it takes to defeat Reeves in November. - In Louisiana, the GOP is trying to seize on an open office to take total control of the state’s governorship and scrap the policies Dem governor John Bel Edwards has fought for. To elect Dem Shawn Wilson and keep the governor’s office blue, we’ll need massive turnout numbers across the state. - I won’t sugarcoat it. Wins and losses this November could set the tone for Democrats in 2024 as we fight to protect essential programs like Social Security, expand our blue firewall, and keep President Biden in the White House. Here’s the bottom line: The DGA has proven time and time again that Democrats can win anywhere, but only with the help of strong grassroots supporters. That’s where you come in, team. [I know that with a surge of grassroots support, we can win, but I just spoke to my contacts at the DGA, and they said they’re falling dangerously behind on their fundraising goals. So I NEED you to join me and pitch in $3 or whatever you can right now and have it quadruple-matched up to the DGA’s $75,000 end-of-quarter goal to elect Democratic governors and beat back Republican attacks. Can I count on you to chip in before 11:59 p.m. Saturday?]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately and be quadruple-matched up to our goal: [Donate $3 (and have it 4X matched!)](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) [Donate $6 (and have it 4X matched!)](fw/Qy90c1kzUkxQYnE4MGx3T040VVZIRTJMa1lhZUZhdzZaSHk0YnBudnhSU04yMjlxQVJyeUcwaWc3WjY0U3kydG94Ny94UjloZzdlM0lOVzBRNU9ocHNYZDMvNXc0cUxKL3lreko0WitJVUU9S0/d2dRQk5tbjA3b2dSWS93aVF5ckk1YVFIYkRyZlVYKzhNLzk2a1V1MGVYemQ0c2VISzJLRzZCay9LblFVanhIV2hGU3JiUDJKUERhK1RkeEZseWcveGZhUGR2Y0hJTmZ5Q2hKYUpnckxqVlZjWWc1cXpFWjlBaDhyRTJGNnBJcmh3ZCs1OVdkbFM4bGxvNzVGSU9Ec0c5eE41ME9EeHpzN0xIZStUMWdiTDhQVG4wWUM1YnZRZk10SXBhbmFiSmFnbC9wb1NUUEFQeHBpZThkVzhtQ0s5Vk03M2NjMlJseXhxYmRIYmpMM2dCNndVdXJHT0ljc29nbVV3RXpQT0VHdk9iMjZpbGxBRTE0ZWRXUGZwSTNPcUdYZFBYem5tS2NiWjgvbHhhbjBaRnNZVDFQbUZMc00yamRwQWhiZnN1bzE5Mkk5V09YTkpLd2MwZHNuTTVma0FnPT0S1) [Donate $12 (and have it 4X matched!)]( [Or donate other amount (and have it 4X matched!)](8Kvf0Wg_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) Thanks for stepping up.
