Hi, {NAME}. I’m Marshall, the Political Director at the DGA. Since you’re a top Democrat in New York, I wanted to share an exclusive report-back memo on our victories in races in tough battlegrounds across the country. We had the best election during a Democratic presidency for Democratic governors since 1986 – electing 18, for a total of 24 Dem govs! We’re thrilled to have elected these leaders – with your support – who will protect our most fundamental rights and keep our 2024 presidential election free and fair. But we know the fight isn’t over. MAGA extremists and election deniers across the country are launching their 2023 campaigns, and we have less than a year to stop them again. This year’s historic wins were made possible by donations from grassroots supporters like you, {NAME}, and I know that we can’t keep winning in 2023 and 2024 without the power of our grassroots movement. So, I’m asking: [{NAME}, will you chip in $3 – or whatever you can – before midnight to help us reach our $75,000 goal? We need to build up the resources to support Democrats in 2023, 2024, and beyond.]( [Rush $3]( INTERNAL MEMO [DO NOT FORWARD] FROM: Marshall Cohen, Political Director TO: DGA Team RE: 2022 Race Review This year, top pundits and pollsters predicted that Republicans would pull off a red wave. We were up against election deniers, Trump’s MAGA allies, and far-right extremists that were doing everything they could to defeat our candidates — including spending millions and passing Jim Crow 2.0 voter suppression laws to keep Dem voters from the polls. We headed into Election Day with an unprecedented number of tied races. But with your support, your activism, and your grassroots donations – our Dem govs DOMINATED their races in battleground states all over! Voters REJECTED Trump’s MAGA agenda and stood up for reproductive rights and our American democracy: Incumbent Wins: We reelected TWELVE Democratic governors in 2022! We reelected strong Dem govs in the midwestern states of Wisconsin and Michigan. Victories in these key battlegrounds – that Trump won once and then lost – will keep the 2024 Presidential elections free and fair. In Wisconsin, Gov. Tony Evers defeated his far-right opponent and beat back an effort by Republicans to recapture all branches of government in the perennial swing state. And in Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer defeated her extremist opponent by more than 10 points – a larger margin than her victory four years ago, and a historic showing in a purple state. And in Kansas, Gov. Laura Kelly won and defied the odds in a deep red state Donald Trump carried twice. Red-to-Blue Races And Open Offices: We flipped THREE governors’ offices BLUE: Arizona, Massachusetts, and Maryland, and we won the open governorship in Pennsylvania, a key bellwether swing state – defending these critical states from extremists and securing free elections for years to come! Historic levels of representation: Democrats elected the first openly lesbian governors in U.S. history in Oregon and in Massachusetts, and the third elected Black governor in the country in Maryland. And as a result of this year’s wins, we now have EIGHT Democratic women governors – the most in U.S. history! Donors across the country chipped in towards these historic victories. But the fight isn’t over, and we need your help. [Before our midnight deadline, will you make a $3 donation to help us keep defeating election deniers and fighting for abortion access and voting rights? We can’t reach our $75,000 goal without your help.]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $3]( [Donate $6]( [Donate $12]( [Or donate other amount]( --------------------------------------------------------------- We’re relying on grassroots supporters to provide us with the urgent resources we need to win nationwide.
