VOTER SUPPRESSION UPDATE: the Supreme Court just ripped what was left of the Voting Rights Act to shreds amidst the GOP’s nationwide attack on voting rights After Democrats’ historic wins in 2020, the GOP has been waging an all-out war on voting rights across the country. Now, with the Voting Rights Act destroyed and Republicans in 48 states promoting new voter suppression bills, Democratic governors are our last line of defense in the fight for voting rights. [We need 7 more grassroots supporters from 10016 to help us fight back before tomorrow’s mid-month deadline, but right now, we’re falling short. {NAME} – this deadline is so critical that a generous group of donors has pledged to MATCH every gift up to our $25,000 goal. Will you chip in $1, or whatever you can, to have it DOUBLED?]( [Donate $1 (Becomes $2)]( {NAME} – this is a CRISIS. First: Democrats voted in record numbers, delivering historic wins by electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and flipping the Senate blue. Then: Republicans launched a nationwide voter suppression campaign to stop the blue wave. So far, they’ve put forth over 404 voter suppression bills in 48 states. And 17 states have already enacted 28 new restrictive laws that make voting harder. Now: Trump’s hand-picked ultra-conservative Supreme Court justices just RIPPED the remaining Voting Rights Act to SHREDS, and Senate Republicans filibustered Democrats’ voting rights legislation. With Republicans in the Senate deadset against acting and the Voting Rights Act destroyed, Democratic governors are our last line of defense to protect voters. And in 2021 and 2022, 38 governors’ offices across the country are up for grabs. That means voting rights are at stake in 38 states, including key Democratic strongholds in presidential races. {NAME} – if we’re going to protect voting rights, we have to elect Democratic governors. But we’ve got to hit every single fundraising goal to do it, and right now, we’re falling short on our mid-month deadline. Can we count on you to chip in $5, or whatever you can before midnight tomorrow, to have it DOUBLED? We can’t do this without you.
