Hi {NAME}, I'm Kate Brown, governor of Oregon. June is Pride Month, and in honor of that, I wanted to share with you a little about the work Democratic governors are doing to help LGBTQ+ communities live openly and with dignity – and why it's so urgent that we hit our $25,000 goal before midnight to fight back against GOP attacks on LGBTQ+ rights and elect Democrats across the country. I'm the first openly bisexual governor in the nation's history, so the fight for equality is an important one to me. I've worked to pass bills that ban harmful conversion therapy, fully recognize domestic partnerships in Oregon, assist LGBTQ veterans, and make it easier for transgender Oregonians to update their legal documents. Getting legislation like this passed is exactly why we need more Democratic governors. Across the nation, Republican legislatures are passing discriminatory laws – targeting transgender students in particular – and Democratic governors are the only people standing between these bills becoming law or getting vetoed. [Please, will you donate $1 or more now to help us hit our $25,000 goal before our midnight deadline to elect more Democratic governors and defeat Republicans' anti-LGBTQ+ agenda?]( I can remember a time when I had to hide who I really was to avoid discrimination, and I'm proud of the progress we've made since then. But our work isn't anywhere near finished. Not when there's still an orchestrated right-wing effort to strip LGBTQ+ individuals of their fundamental rights in schools, hospitals and other public spaces. Pride Month is almost over, but our fundraising has been slowing down lately, so I said I'd reach out to top Democrats like you. We need help hitting our $25,000 goal, which is what we need to raise by midnight just to stay on track to elect more Democrats who will fight discriminatory GOP policies. [Please, w]([ill you make a donation of $1 or more right now to fight for equality, protect LGBTQ+ rights and elect Democrats up and down the ballot?]( The battle for freedom and dignity for ALL is an essential one, and future generations of Americans will thank us for the work we're doing now. Thank you so much for everything you're doing to help out – and Happy Pride Month! Sincerely, Kate Brown Governor of Oregon This email was sent to {EMAIL}. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
