Just take a look at what they’ve achieved → 🏳️ 🌈 President Biden reversed the Trump-era “License to Discriminate," signed legislation protecting marriage for same-sex and interracial couples, and took historic steps to advance full equality for LGBTQ+ Americans. 🏳️ 🌈 Colorado Governor Jared Polis was the first openly gay man elected as governor in 2018, and in 2022, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Oregon Governor Tina Kotek became the first openly lesbian governors in history! 🏳️ 🌈 Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was the first governor in Michigan to fly the Pride Flag – and she signed the first statewide law to prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. 🏳️ 🌈 North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has vetoed bills throughout his two terms that targeted LGBTQ+ youth, prevented teachers from creating safe and inclusive classrooms, and the state’s notorious bathroom bill. 🏳️ 🌈 Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed a statewide bill into law banning conversion therapy. And this is just the tip of the iceberg! On the other hand, last year, the GOP tried to pass a record 510 anti-LGBTQ+ bills. Now, in 2024, they have at least 285 bills already on the docket! And some of the most aggressive attacks are coming from Governors Desantis in Florida, Abbot in Texas, Lee in Tennessee, and Burgum in North Dakota.
