So why do others? [Democratic Attorneys General Association]( {NAME}, The Supreme Court is considering a case brought by a Colorado website designer who refuses to design for same-sex couples. She believes that her designs should be consistent with her beliefs, and as a consequence, she should be able to deny service to customers based on their identity. We’re proud to stand with Colorado Dem AG Phil Weiser who asked the Supreme Court to uphold Colorado's civil rights law in deciding 303 Creative v. Elenis. He believes that a business owner shouldn’t and can’t discriminate against certain customers based on who they are. This case could open the door to discrimination based on other protected statuses, like race, religion, sex, disability, and nation of origin. Taking a stand for the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized communities is a value that Dem AGs share. AG Weiser knows that, and that’s why he’s fighting for Colorado’s citizens, no matter their background or identity. Business owners shouldn’t be able to refuse service to folks solely because they have different backgrounds or lived experiences. Preventing economic discrimination doesn’t violate free speech – it affirms a person’s identity. Dem AGs don’t stand for discrimination, they step up when they see that something’s wrong and they do something about it, and that’s what AG Weiser did. Let’s elect more Dem AGs who fight for folks like you and me.
