We’re fighting like hell to keep him away from the AG’s office. [Democratic Attorneys General Association]( {NAME}, First they came for abortion access, now they’re coming for marriage equality. Matt DePerno has indicated he doesn’t believe in marriage equality – threatening to roll back LGBTQIA+ rights for Michiganders. Matt DePerno already had a well-documented history of backwards, dangerous policy positions, and now, he’s recently said that he believes marriage can ONLY be defined as a union between one man and one woman. DePerno wants to take away what so many of us have fought hard for the right to have. [Chip in to DAGA to support Dem AG candidates who will protect your rights, including the right to love whomever you want.]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [DONATE $5]( [DONATE $10]( [DONATE $25]( [DONATE $50]( DePerno’s stance on marriage equality is worrying given the current political climate. The legality of same-sex marriage is guaranteed in a similar way that reproductive rights were in Roe v. Wade, and we saw how little precedent matters to this conservative Supreme Court. In stark contrast to DePerno, AG Nessel is a proven advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. She fought hard in the fight for marriage equality herself, arguing to lift Michigan’s ban on same-sex marriage at the state level and even appealing to the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges – the case that legalized marriage equality nationwide. We can not let Republican AGs and candidates tear down the progress we’ve fought for decades to have. [The stakes could not be higher. Our rights are on the line. Chip in to DAGA today and help us elect Dem AGs who will fight like hell for our rights, including the right to love whom we want.]( Thanks, DAGA HQ [Democratic Attorneys General Association] Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in 2022, [we need your support – will you chip in today?]( [CHIP IN]( If you’d like to receive less email from DAGA, fill out the form at this link and we’ll only send you the most important updates from the team.
